Unit: The Colour Wheel and Kandinsky

Theme: Painting is a technique artists use to show how they feel

Skill : Be able to create art as a means of self expression

What Did We Learn:

We learned about and made our own colour wheel. We learned how Isaac newton discovered that white light consisted of seven colours (the colours of the rainbow). We experimented with the primary colours in paint to get black and all other colours. We learned that colours can create an emotional response (red can make us think of anger, yellow can make us feel happy).  We learned about the artist Kandinsky and how colour, line, shape and music inspired his art. We then created our own Kandinsky inspired painting

Materials: Paint, paper, music, pencils, brushes, scissors
