Unit: Do You Live Around Here?

Theme: Cave Paintings

Skill : Be able to explain your own work in terms of what you have done and why

What Did We Learn:

We looked at the first artworks made 40,000 years ago in Spain called the Cave of El Castillo and in France called Lascaux and Chauvet. Students explored techniques and media which Cave Men used to portray stories about their daily lives. We made our own interpretations of cave art and imagined what it was like to make marks using limited tools. We made our own paint brushes and used sticks to draw with. We made paint using natural materials, pigment and oils.

Materials: sticks, pigment, ink, paper, leaves, berries, paint, grass, green tea, coco powder, oil
